I have been married to my wife Christie for 25 years. We have two children, my daughter Savannah is a student at Mississippi State and my son, John Parker, recently graduated high school and will attend The University of South Alabama. I have been around education my entire life. My grandmother was a teacher and my mother was a teacher and reading specialist. I graduated from The University of Alabama in 1997 with a bachelors in Elementary Education. I taught fourth grade and fifth grade in Euaula, Alabama before moving to the Daleville City School District in Daleville, Alabama. While teaching Title I remediation and technology classes at Windham Elementary School, I finished my Masters Degree in Elementary Education and my administrative certification at Alabama State University. Beginning in 2004 I served as the Principal of the NOVA Guidance and Learning Center, our Alternative School in Daleville. During that year I also served as Federal Programs Coordinator and District Testing Coordinator. In 2005 I moved back to Windham Elementary School as Principal where I stayed until 2020. During that time I received my Education Specialist Degree from Auburn University. In 2020 we reopened Daleville Middle School where I served as Principal until 2021. In 2021 I joined Dale County Schools as Curriculum Director. In 2024 I retired from public education. During my tenure as an administrator, I was very active in the Counsel for Leaders of Alabama's Schools (CLAS), the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators AAESA, and the Alabama Association of School Curriculum Directors(AASCD). I have served and continue to serve on the executive boards of all of these associations and was the AAESA President during the 2016-2017 school year. I also served on the membership committee for the National Association of Elementary School Principals in Alexandria Virginia. I continue to be active in AAESA and NAESP while also serving as a Retired Emeritus member of the AASCD and CLAS Executive Boards.
